2027 is the Year of the Sheep. In stem-branch terms it's the Jeongmi year (丁未年). The first character, Jeong (丁), is Fire (火) among the Five Elements, so with its color added it becomes the Red Sheep. That's why it's called “the Year of the Red Sheep.”

The color comes from the element of the first character (the Heavenly Stem). Gap and Eul are Wood, so blue; Byeong and Jeong are Fire, so red; Mu and Gi are Earth, so yellow; Gyeong and Sin are Metal, so white; and Im and Gye are Water, so black. 2026's Byeong-o was also Fire — the “Red Horse” — and 2027's Jeongmi is Fire too, making two red years in a row.
When does the 2027 Year of the Sheep begin?
In Saju, the year changes at Ipchun. In 2027, Ipchun falls on Thursday, February 4 at 10:46 a.m. (Korea time). The Jeongmi year begins only once this moment has passed.

I'll be honest. Your zodiac animal is one of eight characters. It's the single lower character of your birth year. Judging a whole year by that one character amounts to saying everyone with the same animal has the same year.
