Why read the 2027 fortune by Day Master rather than zodiac animal?

Because the character that stands for “you” in Saju is the Day Master (日干), the Heavenly Stem of the day you were born. The year's luck, called annual luck (seun 歲運), is read by which Ten God that year's stem-branch is for your Day Master. Your zodiac animal is a single character, the branch of your birth year, so reading by it leads to the conclusion that everyone with the same animal has the same year.

2027 is the Jeongmi year (丁未年). Its Heavenly Stem, Jeong (丁), is Fire (火), and its Earthly Branch, Mi (未), is Earth (土); inside Mi are three characters, Jeong, Eul and Gi (the hidden stems). If you were born between 11 p.m. and midnight, your day pillar can differ from one manseryeok to another, so it's worth checking the late and early Ja hours too.

In which months of 2027 does energy build for each Day Master?

In the twelve months of 2027, the Heavenly Stems pair up two months at a time in the same element, in this order: Im·Gye (Water) → Gap·Eul (Wood) → Byeong·Jeong (Fire) → Mu·Gi (Earth) → Gyeong·Sin (Metal) → Im·Gye (Water). It's easy to read. How does 2027 change when you also look at the day branch?

If the Day Master shows your relationship with the year's Heavenly Stem, your day branch (the Earthly Branch of the day you were born) shows your relationship with the year's branch, Mi (未). The day branch is the seat of your daily sphere and close relationships, so you tend to feel it strongly.

How do you read it when Daeun and annual luck overlap?

Annual luck is a one-year layer, and beneath it lies the 10-year Daeun. Even for the same Gyeong Metal Day Master meeting 2027's Direct Officer year, if the Daeun is already an Officer period (Fire), responsibilities pile up layer on layer; if the Daeun is a Resource period (Earth), it becomes a year with the strength to back those responsibilities up.

That's why 2027 flows differently even for the same Day Master. An easy way to think of it: the Day Master table sets the direction, and the Daeun sets the weight.

How should I plan for 2027?
