What is monthly luck (wolun 月運)?

Monthly luck is the relationship between the month's stem-branch pair (the month pillar) and your Saju. It's the layer below annual luck, the luck of a year, and above iljin, the luck of a day. For November 2026, you look at which Ten God the Gihae (己亥) month, beginning November 7, is to your Day Master, and whether the month's Earthly Branch, Hae (亥), forms a harmony or a clash with your day branch or zodiac animal.

The layers look like this: Daeun (10 years) → annual luck (1 year) → monthly luck (1 month) → iljin (one day). The higher the layer, the weightier it is; the lower the layer, the sooner you feel it.

When does a month change in Saju?

It changes not on the 1st or the lunar new moon, but at the moment a solar-term "jeol (節)" begins. The twelve terms Ipchun, Gyeongchip, Cheongmyeong, Ipha, Mangjong, Soseo, Ipchu, Baengno, Hallo, Ipdong, Daeseol and Sohan each mark the start of a month. That's why the Saju November begins around November 7 in the Gregorian calendar, with its start time set down to the minute.

This boundary shifts by about a day from year to year. Ipdong in 2026 is at 18:52 on November 7, but Ipdong in 2027 is at 0:38 on November 8. So you need to check the dates for monthly luck again every year. All solar-term times are in The 24 solar terms of 2027.

What are the month pillars from October 2026 to December 2027?

These are the month pillars for the sixteen months from now until the end of 2027, the Jeongmi year. Start times are in Korea Standard Time, everything was calculated with Mutal Unnie's Saju engine, and the 2027 solar-term entry times were checked against public data from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (dates matched; minutes differed by 0–1 minute).

In the table, you can see the Heavenly Stems continue in the same element for two months at a time. They cycle in the order Mu · Gi (Earth) → Gyeong · Sin (Metal) → Im · Gye (Water) → Gap · Eul (Wood) → Byeong · Jeong (Fire). That's why monthly luck shares the same broad tone in two-month blocks, with only yin and yang switching within each block.

How do I read this month by my Day Master?

The backbone of monthly luck is which Ten God the month pillar's Heavenly Stem is to your Day Master. Find your Day Master's row in the table below and you'll see the Ten Gods grouped two months at a time. The first is for the first month, the second for the second month.

For example, for a Gyeong (庚, Yang Metal) Day Master, October–November 2026 (the Musul and Gihae months) are Indirect Resource · Direct Resource: two months of study and preparation. December–January (the Gyeongja and Sinchuk months) are Companion · Rob Wealth: two months when people gather and competition heats up. The meanings of the ten Ten Gods are covered in The Ten Gods.

5. Apply it to your schedule — put things that fit its nature into that month

How do I read the month branch?

The month branch (the month's Earthly Branch) is read by whether it forms a harmony or a clash with your day branch or zodiac animal. A month with a clash is one in which the radius of your daily life tends to shift. The next four months look like this.

There's no need to put things off just because it's a clash month. If it's something you already meant to move on, like moving house or changing jobs, the tone is a good fit. Day-by-day clash days can be found in How to find clash days.

How does it layer with annual luck and the 10-year luck cycle?

It's easy if you think of it as the upper layer setting the direction and the lower layer setting the timing. If 2027 is a Direct Officer year for a Gyeong Metal Day Master (see 2027 fortune by Day Master), then within it, responsibility piles up most in the Byeong-o and Jeongmi months (6/6–8/7), which are also Officer stars, and you gain the strength to sort it out in the Musin and Giyu months (8/8–10/7), which are Resource stars.

It's hard to single out monthly luck and say "this month is bad." Depending on whether annual luck and the 10-year luck cycle point the same way or the opposite way, the same month can play out differently.

How do I use monthly luck for my schedule?

The easiest way is to draw two-month blocks on your calendar. Put negotiations and settlements in Wealth-star months, evaluations and deadlines in Officer-star months, study and paperwork in Resource-star months, planning and presentations in Output-star months, and gatherings and collaboration in Companion-star months. There's one thing to do today: in the second table above, find the next two months for your Day Master and write them at the top of your calendar.
