Good Days to Sign a Contract
— How to Choose by Your Day Master
A good day to sign a contract is a day that is Direct Wealth (正財) or Direct Officer (正官) for your Day Master. That's why it differs from person to person. For a Gyeong Metal Day Master, for example, it's Eul (乙) and Jeong (丁) days — on weekdays in October 2026, that's the 8th, 20th, 28th and 30th. Remove days that clash with your zodiac animal, and your candidates are set.

What decides a good day to sign a contract?
For a contract date, a day that is Direct Wealth (正財) or Direct Officer (正官) for your Day Master is considered good. Direct Wealth is the star of carefully securing what is yours, and Direct Officer is the star of keeping rules and promises, so their tone matches things that need to be certain, like signing and settling payments. This is the same standard as the by-purpose table in How to choose a good day: the complete guide.
So a good day to sign a contract differs from person to person. Unlike Son-eomneun-nal, which is marked once on the calendar for everyone, it can only be set once you know your Day Master. You can find your Day Master in the Manseryeok calculator: it's the first character of your day pillar.
In what order do I choose a contract date?
If you start by picking good days, it won't work. The right order is to fix the conditions that involve the other party first, then choose within the range that's left.
| Step | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fix the conditions you can't change | Conditions involving the other party come first, like the final-payment day, their schedule and the loan disbursement date |
| 2 | Pull out the possible date range | Usually 1–3 weeks remain |
| 3 | Remove days that clash with your zodiac animal | It comes once every 12 days, so usually only one or two days drop out |
| 4 | Pick Direct Wealth or Direct Officer days | The tone of care and certainty a contract needs |
| 5 | Confirm it as an event | Leave time to recheck your documents the day before |

For a Gyeong Metal Day Master, for example, Eul (乙) days are Direct Wealth and Jeong (丁) days are Direct Officer. In October 2026 that means the 8th, 10th, 18th, 20th, 28th and 30th, and the weekdays among them are the 8th (Thu), 20th (Tue), 28th (Wed) and 30th (Fri). Each Day Master gets 17–18 such days over the three months, so you won't run short of candidates.
Which candidate days should I remove?
Days that clash with your zodiac animal. It's the first thing removed in date selection, so just cross-check it once against the dates in the table above. Clash days for each zodiac animal are listed in a date table by Earthly Branch in How to find clash days. Avoiding days that clash with your day branch as well is even more thorough.
If two people sign the contract together, it's enough to choose by your own chart and just avoid the other person's clash days. If you look for days that are Direct Wealth or Direct Officer for both of you, hardly any candidates remain.
For jeonse or a purchase, are the signing day and moving day judged separately?
Yes, separately. It's common to choose the day you sign the contract by Direct Wealth/Direct Officer days as above, and moving day, when you move your things, by Son-eomneun-nal and direct clash. Moving-day criteria are covered in 2027 Son-eomneun-nal: the complete guide and When your moving date doesn't line up.
The same standard applies to job offers, employment contracts and business contracts. If you can't choose the date, it's a practical help to at least set the time of signing for when your head is clear, such as the morning.
I won't tell you that date selection changes how a contract turns out. But while you're choosing a date, you end up reading the contract one more time. That's the most certain effect. For legal judgments on the contract's content, check with a licensed real estate agent or other professional.
What if I can't get a good day?
It's fine to just go ahead. Contract dates are usually tied to the other party's schedule and the loan disbursement date, so endlessly looking up whether a fixed date is lucky or unlucky only leaves you anxious. Instead, set aside time on the evening before to check the documents, amounts and special terms one more time.
In Mutal Unnie, enter a period and a purpose (contract) in ‘Find a good day’ (45 Bok) and you get candidates filtered by your Saju; the day you pick becomes an event as is. An event’s D-day countdown and a one-line rhythm for the day are free, and if you open Full Care (35 Bok) you also get an evening-before briefing.
Just one thing to do today. In the table above, find this month's weekdays in your Day Master's row and mark the ones that overlap with your contract window.

How do I choose a good day to sign a contract?
Pick a day that is Direct Wealth or Direct Officer for your Day Master. Their tone is care and keeping promises, which suits signing and settling accounts. Then just remove days that clash with your zodiac animal.
Is a good day to sign a contract the same for everyone?
No, it differs from person to person. For a Gyeong Metal Day Master it is Eul and Jeong days; for a Gap Wood Day Master, Gi and Sin days. Unlike Son-eomneun-nal (days free of wandering spirits), it is not the same day for everyone.
Do I need to check Son-eomneun-nal for a jeonse (lump-sum deposit lease) contract date too?
Son-eomneun-nal applies to moving day. Choose the signing day by Direct Wealth/Direct Officer, and the day you move your things by Son-eomneun-nal and direct clash — separately.
If my contract date is already fixed on a not-so-good day, should I change it?
No need to change it. Most dates are tied to the other party's schedule, and there is no evidence that date selection changes the outcome. Double-checking the documents, amounts and special terms the day before is more practical.
