Why Saju apps disagree: a birth-chart comparison checklist

· Mutal Unnie editorial team

Quick answer

First ask whether the Eight Characters differ or only the interpretation does. If the chart differs, check inputs and boundary settings. If the chart matches, compare the interpretation method and question's time span. Change only one setting at a time and record the result.

What should I compare first?

Separate calculation from interpretation. Copy the year, month, day and hour pillars in the same named order. Different apps may display the columns in opposite directions, so use the labels rather than their positions.

If the Eight Characters match but one text encourages action and another caution, that alone does not establish a calculation error. The rules, question or period may differ. If the characters differ, check inputs and calculation settings first.

What can the differing pillar tell me?

The changed column narrows the checking order; it does not prove a cause. A wrong input date can change several pillars at once. Start with the calendar and original date before trying multiple corrections.

Different pillarCheck firstConvention to compare
YearBirth year, calendar, Ipchun boundaryYear boundary and solar-term time
MonthInput date, before/after solar termSolar-term month versus calendar month

HourBirth time, unknown time, correctionsStandard time, DST and location

What if I was born near 11 p.m.?

Check which date the service assigns to the Ja hour. Treating the 11 p.m. hour as the same day or the next day can change the day pillar and related calculations. The same entered clock time does not guarantee the same boundary rule.

Look for descriptions of late Ja, early Ja or a 23:00 day change. Do not turn an uncertain remembered time into an invented precise minute.

Will enabling every time correction make the result more accurate?

Select corrections only after checking their meaning and the birth place and period. Historical standard time, daylight saving and location-based corrections address different issues. Enabling them blindly can shift the time twice.

Mutal Unnie's app calculates with the entered KST clock time and assigns late Ja to the same day; it does not automatically correct historical standard time or daylight saving. The web manseryeok offers optional corrections, so align settings when comparing.

If the birth took place abroad, check supported time zones and location rules before entering a local clock time as KST.

How should I record two apps' results?

Write the settings and pillars side by side. Record: service ____; Gregorian birth date ____; time or unknown ____; calendar/leap month ____; Ja boundary ____; time corrections ____; year ____; month ____; day ____; hour ____.

If the day pillar differs, align the calendar and date first, then compare only the Ja rule. Changing the date and time corrections together obscures the cause. KASI can help verify calendar conversion; it does not determine a service's interpretation conventions.

Which interpretation should I trust if the charts match?

Check that the explanations address the same question and period. Daily advice, an annual reading and a zodiac overview are different kinds of text.

A matching calculation does not prove predictive accuracy. Look for a clear scope and actions you can verify. If characters still differ after aligning settings, contact support with both charts and settings. Remove private birth details before posting publicly.

FAQ

Must matching charts have the same daily score?

No. Birth-chart calculation and fortune scoring are different processes. Services may use different scoring and interpretation rules.

What should I check if apps show different day pillars?

First align the Gregorian/lunar and leap-month settings and the converted birth date. Near 11 p.m. or midnight, also compare the Ja-hour day rule.

What if all settings match but the charts still differ?

Record the inputs, stated calculation conventions and four pillars for both services and contact support. Do not resolve an unexplained difference by choosing the reading you prefer.
